Nigerian Academy of Science, in partnership with the Kenya National Academy of Sciences (KNAS) and the Uganda National Academy of Sciences (UNAS), and their respective Ministries of Health, this project is part of a long-term programme aimed at involving academies of health in national efforts to achieve the UN MDGs relating to maternal and child health. The intention is also to show the capacity of academies to convene relevant stakeholders working towards a national goal and thus underline the key role academies can play in providing scientific advice to their governments on this important issue.
