Title of proposal:
Towards Engineering Harmony Between Water, Ecosystem and Society. Strengthening the Collaboration between European Academies of Science in the IAP Water Programme.
The present proposal is for the organization of 2 meetings of high level experts from European focal points of the IAP Water Programme, together with EASAC (European Academies' Science Advisory Council) and ALLEA (All European Academies), to discuss further the organization of the programme in Europe and follow-up actions. The first meeting would take place in May 2010 in Cracow (Poland). The second meeting will be held in May 2011 in Germany. Meetings will be the platform for elaboration of the framework of a book "Towards Engineering Harmony Between Water, Ecosystem and Society'. The book will be published in October 2011. EASAC will appoint a Working Group of recognised experts to consider the policy implications of the work and to contribute a report on them. To enhance the cooperation between EASAC (European Academies Science Advisory Council), ALLEA (All European Academies) and IAP Water Program, representatives of each organization will be invited to participate in meeting and also to support the book. If it proves to be possible, the European IAP Water Program will be represented in relevant sessions of EASAC and ALLEA bodies.
