I am a Biologist specializing in the ecology of insect vectors of disease. I am also a professor in charge of coordinating the Introductory Biology courses for first year students at the School of Chemical Sciences and Pharmacy, San Carlos University, Guatemala. I also teach Statistics for Biology major students. I have participated in research relating the ecology and epidemiology of Chagas disease in Guatemala, specifically for the bug species Triatoma dimidiata. My doctoral research project was about mosquito population age structure and the risk of virus transmission in Florida, USA. I am interested in working in multidisciplinary teams to solve the public health problematic in rural Latin America. I received my B.S. from San Carlos University, Guatemala; a Masters in Applied Statistics from Louisiana State University, and a Doctoral degree with emphasis in Medical Entomology from the University of Florida, USA.
