The Lithuanian Academy of Sciences (LAS) was founded in 1941 and consists of full members, corresponding members, foreign members and expert members. LAS is an advisory body to the government in all fields of science. The main objectives of the Academy include bringing together scientists for solving major scientific problems, stimulating research and academic studies, establishing international scientific cooperation, acting as an independent expert and consultant on science, studies, technology, and culture, economics, social advancement.
