The Zimbabwe Academy of Sciences (ZAS) established in 2005, is a learned society, which aims to promote national and international development by championing the acquisition and advancement of knowledge for application to sustainable development.  The fellows of ZAS represent some of Zimbabwe's accomplished scientists elected from among leading scholars in the life sciences, physical sciences and social sciences.   ZAS is made up of three constituent colleges representing the main groups of scientific disciplines: College of Life Sciences, College of Physical Sciences and College of Social Sciences.
