The Academy of Sciences of Nicaragua's membership consists of scientists with distinguished academic careers in all areas of knowledge to promote the advancement of science and scientific education. The organization is independent and non-profitable in nature. It was established based on merit, with high standards, and with critical mass.  It stimulates critical thinking and discussions on relevant national scientific topics. The Academy was inaugurated on March 30, 2009.
