Biography

HJÄRVINEN , Tero (Finland)
Tero Järvinen, 40-year old male, orthopaedic & traumatologist, graduated from The Medical School, University of Tampere, Finland, in 1997. He received his Ph.D. thesis from the Department of Cancer Genetics, University of Tampere in 1999 and moved into clinical medicine. After the initial period in general surgery, Dr. Järvinen completed his clinical training in orthopaedics and traumatology in 2008. He did his post-doc with the world renowned cell biologist, distinguished professor Erkki Ruoslahti at the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute (SBMRI) at La Jolla, CA, USA in 2003 - 2006 and joined Dr. Ruoslahti again for the 2nd visit at Vascular Mapping Center, the SBMRI at UCSB, University of California at Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara, CA, USA in 2008. Dr. Järvinen works currently as a deputy chief surgeon at the Department of Orthopaedics & Traumatology, Tampere City Hospital, Finland and holds a clinical scientist position from the Academy of Finland at the University of Tampere. He was also appointed a senior lecturer title by the University of Tampere in 2007. He has published 75 papers. His H-index (Hirsch-index) is 32 and his papers have been cited for almost 2800 times (according to the ISI). He has worked for 41 journals as a peer-reviewer and his expertise has also been used by 7 different national funding agencies.
