AAAS and The Royal Society collaborate to Revisit Science Diplomacy

15 years ago, The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and The Royal Society released New Frontiers in Science Diplomacy, an important document that helped define the concept of science diplomacy. Now, as this influential report approaches its 15th anniversary, the two scientific organisations are contemplating revisions to ensure its relevance for the future.

To commemorate this milestone, Science & Diplomacy (the AAAS Center for Science Diplomacy) is initiating a call for a special issue titled "Science Diplomacy – 15 Years On." Authors are invited to explore the evolving landscape of science diplomacy in the 21st century and consider potential gaps or changes since the 2010 framework. Questions to ponder include the definition of science diplomacy today and the unforeseen consequences it may entail.

The special issue aims to gather perspectives from a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including scientists engaged in foreign policy, diplomats specializing in science and innovation, and representatives from technology companies, government agencies and non-governmental organizations.
