Biography

Dr Meranthi Fernando is currently working as a Consultant Paediatrician with special interest in paediatric hepatology and liver transplantation at Colombo North Centre For Liver Diseases. She also serves as a senior lecturer in Paediatrics. She pioneered in establishing the paediatric liver transplant programme in Sri Lanka, in 2020.

She holds a MBBS (University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka), DCH (University of Colombo, Sri Lanka), MD – Paediatrics (University of Colombo) and MRCPCH (UK). She pursued a clinical fellowship in paediatric hepatology and liver transplantation in Birmingham Children’s Hospital, UK, between 2018-2020.

Meranthi lives in Ja-Ela a city close to the beautiful Negombo lagoon and the beach in Sri Lanka. She is passionate about her current clinical and academic work of liver transplantation in children. She likes spending more time with her family in leisure and likes travelling around her beautiful country, Sri Lanka.
