Biography

Dr. Penelope Baaba Tettey Adinku works as a Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the National Cardiothoracic Centre, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. She completed her Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship Training with the West African College of Surgeons in April 2022 becoming the first Ghanaian female Cardiothoracic Surgeon and inducted as a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons in March 2023. She also holds a membership certificate in General Surgery from the West African College of Surgeons and a certificate in Leadership and Management in Health from the University of Washington.

She is a recipient of the 2023 Valerie Rusch Career Development Mentorship Award as well as the Young Star Honouree by the Ghana Women of the Year Honours. She is also a Patron of the Association of Future African Cardiothoracic Surgeons and heads the Medical Outreach Committee of her church which undertakes programmes to reach out to local communities within Ghana. She honours invitations to speak to various groups of people; medical students, high school students and female groups.

She enjoys mentoring young people and loves to watch movies with her family in her free time.
